Preparation
  1. Allow the cream cheese and butter to come to room temperature.
  2. In a medium bowl, mash 1 cup of ripe bananas until mostly smooth.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until fluffy and pale, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Mix the mashed bananas, vanilla extract, lemon juice, and salt into the cream cheese mixture until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing on low speed until incorporated; then beat on high until the filling is thick and creamy.
  6. Add 2 tablespoons of heavy cream; mix again until the texture is silky and spreadable.
  7. Place the filling in the fridge for 30 to 45 minutes to allow flavors to meld and make it easier to spread.

Notes

To enhance the nutritional profile, swap refined sugar for monk fruit and add chia or flaxseeds for extra fiber. This recipe is naturally gluten-free. For a vegan version, replace cream cheese and butter with plant-based alternatives.
