Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 pounds sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces Opt for grass-fed beef for better flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Use extra virgin for better flavor.
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce For gluten-free, use tamari.
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar Can be substituted with monk fruit or honey for a healthier option.
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by cutting your sirloin steak into evenly sized bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the steak pieces with olive oil, onion powder, paprika, and black pepper. Toss well.
  3. Transfer the seasoned steak bites to the crockpot, spreading them out for even cooking.
  4. Pour in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce over the steak.
  5. Scatter the minced garlic, butter, and brown sugar on top.
Cooking
  1. Cover the crockpot and set it to low for 6 to 7 hours or high for 3 to 4 hours.
  2. For a thicker sauce, whisk cornstarch and water in a small bowl until smooth. Add to the crockpot during the last 20 to 30 minutes.
Serving
  1. Once cooked, garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm with mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.

Notes

For a healthier option, consider subbing brown sugar with monk fruit or honey. This dish can also be veganized with mushroom, jackfruit, or tofu, and using vegetable broth.
