Ingredients

For the cocktail
  • 3 ounces fresh orange juice (from about 2 medium oranges) Fresh is best for maximum flavor and sweetness.
  • 3 ounces pomegranate juice Look for pure pomegranate juice; not from concentrate, if possible.
  • 3 ounces silver tequila A good-quality silver tequila will enhance all the flavors.
  • 1 ounce triple sec This orange-flavored liqueur adds sweetness; Cointreau is a great upscale option.
  • 1 ounce lime juice (about 1 medium lime) Freshly squeezed for that tangy brightness.
  • crushed ice Perfect for keeping your cocktail chilled!
  • 2 slices orange (for garnish, optional) They make the drink look exquisite.
  • pomegranate seeds (for garnish, optional) Adds a pop of freshness.
For rimming the glasses
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar You can also use raw sugar for a rustic look.

Method

Preparation
  1. Set out two small plates. On one plate, spread out the granulated sugar. On the second plate, pour 1 ounce of freshly squeezed orange juice.
  2. Dip the rims of your cocktail glasses into the orange juice first, then into the sugar to coat them. Set these aside to dry slightly.
Mixing the Cocktail
  1. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with crushed ice.
  2. Add the remaining fresh orange juice, pomegranate juice, tequila, triple sec, and lime juice.
  3. Ensure the shaker lid is tightly secured.
Serving
  1. Shake vigorously for about 15 to 20 seconds until the shaker feels cold.
  2. Fill your prepared glasses with crushed ice, then strain the cocktail mixture equally into each glass.
  3. Garnish with orange slices and a sprinkle of pomegranate seeds if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

Make sure to use fresh ingredients for the best flavor. You can batch the drinks ahead of time but keep ice out until serving. Adjust sweetness with lime juice or soda water as needed.
