Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground turkey Choose organic for superior flavor.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs Whole grain or almond flour can be used for health benefits.
  • 1 large egg Acts as a binder for the meatballs.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 1/3 cup feta cheese, crumbled Opt for aged feta for richer taste.
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 3/4 tsp salt Adjust according to taste.
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil For cooking the meatballs.
For the Tzatziki
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup cucumber, grated and squeezed dry
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, red onion, crumbled feta, fresh dill, parsley, lemon zest, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Gently mix until just combined.
  2. With clean hands, shape the mixture into 12 evenly sized meatballs, ensuring they are compact but not dense.
  3. In a small bowl, stir together the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, fresh dill, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper until combined. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Cooking
  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook for 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  2. Serve meatballs topped with tzatziki and garnish with extra dill if desired.

Notes

Add finely chopped spinach or zucchini to the meatball mixture for added nutrients. Pair with a crisp white wine for a perfect dining experience.
