Ingredients
Method
Make the Base Dough
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, and include the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the butter mixture until a soft dough forms.
Color and Flavor the Dough
- Divide the dough into three bowls, keeping one portion plain.
- Add strawberry powder to one bowl and mix until evenly colored.
- Sift in the matcha powder to the second bowl and mix until the dough is uniformly green.
- If the dough feels too sticky, adjust with a little additional flour.
Shape and Marble the Cookies
- Take 2 teaspoons of each colored dough, press them side by side to create a swirling ball.
- Alternatively, roll each color into a rope, twist them together, coil, and flatten into a circle.
Bake the Cookies
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Place the shaped cookies on the baking sheet with space to spread. Bake for 9-11 minutes until just golden at the edges.
- Allow the cookies to cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before transferring.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Can freeze for longer storage. The dough can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 3 days.
